"Akita Ranga" is a western style picture introduced to Akita by Gennai Hiraga and he intern taught the local "Samurai" how to paint "Akita Ranga".
"Akita Ranga" is a very important part of art history in Japan and can be seen at the Akita Municipal Senshu Museum of Art. Also, the museum is exhibiting the world famous painter Kenzo Okada who is known for his unique style of painting.
Akita Senshu Museum of Art
The museum is exhibiting the world famous painter Tsuguharu Fujita who is known for his unique style of painting. "The events in Akita"(3.65m×20.5m) is the biggest painting of the 20th century.
Hirano Museum of Art
In Akita, there are some unique and simple local crafts, such as Ginsen Zaiku (Silver-Thread works), Akita Hachijo (Dyeing textile goods), Ikoma Nuri(Ikoma Laquer Ware), Fukizuri (Colts-foot Print), Kabazaiku (Cherry Bark Works), Yabase Doll, Akita Pottery - These are all local crafts representing Akita.
