Akita Fort, an administrative office to govern the northwestern part of
north Japan. Based on the legal code in those days, the central government
settled it to include this area to the national system. At that time, buildings
built by the central government were symbols flaunting the national power.
In addition to political, military, and cultural functions, this fort had
been an important trade base in this area since then. |
