Miraculous feat requiring 40% strength and 60% skill.
The stability as if taking root on the ground can not be done in a day's practice.
According to experts, it would take one year to be able to hold it, another three years to be able to perform it satisfactorily and endless practice for perfection.

The total length of pole is almost 20 meters and its movement is as if it's alive. It weighs about 50 kg in total and the weight would be centered on the bottoms of supporting pole with a diameter of 7,8 cm.
A hanten coat and headband are not really good enough to protect the performer.
Wounds and swellings on the forehead, shoulders and hip would remain three months after the festival. If you don't like it, don't try Kanto.
Performers are not proud of their scars. For their pride and manly spirit, scars that disappear within three months don't mean anything at all.

All bamboo used for the main poles of Kanto are made in Japan and are quite thick.
Also, the regulations on thickness and the space between joints of the root are very strict so only one in 300 bamboo poles is suitable.
On top of that, fresh bamboo can be used only after being dried for a couple of years under eaves.
The combination of Kanto poles with this main bamboo pole in the center would influence the results of the festival. It's also important for performers to master adjusting the way to tie ropes and bending the pole perfectly.
